Competitive Admission
 

The Kinesiology and Health Promotion-Athletic Training major is a competitive admission program. In order for the student to be admitted into the professional program in athletic training they must meet a set of standards. Students typically apply in the spring of their fourth semester in the program. Upon admission into the program the student must meet the academic retention policy in order to stay in good standing.

PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

You must make application for admission to the professional Kinesiology and Health Promotion-Athletic Training (K&HP-AT) program once you meet the requirements to enter KIN 3021, Physiology of Exercise (offered fall and spring semesters).


Entry Criteria

  1. Minimum 2.50 GPA; preferred GPA of 3.0
  2. Successful completion of BIOL 1010; COJO 1010; ENGL 1010; ENGL 2020; FCSC 1140/1141; HLED 1006; KIN 1005; KIN 1052; KIN 1058; KIN/ZOO 2040; KIN/ZOO 2041; KIN 2057; KIN 2058; KIN 2068; KIN 2078; KIN/ZOO 3115; MATH 1400/1405/1450; PEAC 1001; PHYS 1050/1110; PSYC 1000; STAT 2050/2070; and USP V.
  3. Interview and Essay Completed
  4. Application fee of $30.00

Admission to the K&HP-AT program is a competitive process. Applicants meeting minimum requirements are not guaranteed admission to the last four semesters of the program. The application deadline for fall semester admission is April 15. Students who make application for admission by April 15 will have their packets reviewed first. Application packets received after the deadline will only be reviewed if space is still available. A total of 15 K&HP-AT students are admitted into the professional program fall semester.
