Wind Energy Credits for the University of Wyoming

ASUW and the UW Administration are providing students, staff, and faculty the opportunity to purchase wind energy credits from Rocky Mountain Power on behalf of the University of Wyoming .

What this means is that for every wind energy credit unit we purchase, Rocky Mountain Power will put 100 Kilowatt-Hours of power onto the grid. 100 Kilowatt-Hours is the amount of power needed to keep one thousand 100-Watt light bulbs on for one hour!! The power is generated at six different wind farms.

Our first goal is to purchase enough wind energy credits to offset the power use of the Union Building . The total cost of the units depends on how many of them we can purchase near the end of the semester. So, the more money we raise, the cheaper the units become, which means we will be able to offset even more of our power needs!  To offset the power needs of the Union we need only $1/year from each enrolled UW student. With the support of staff and faculty, we can achieve much higher than that!

Please visit this link to make your purchase via credit card. You can also go see Lorraine Lupton in the ASUW Business Office in the basement of the Union to pay with cash.
