Campus Construction Update for Week of Nov. 16-22

Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report:

Information Technology (IT) Center (Scheduled completion date: December 2008) -- Landscaping will continue for about two more weeks. Detail work on the exterior continues. The construction trailer will be moved off-site. The air handlers have been started and balanced. Punch list started on the third floor last week and will include the second floor this week. The wood paneling in the main lobby will complete this week. The service elevator will be operational in about one week.

College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- Installation of form work and reinforcing on foundation walls will continue next week. Concrete will be placed for one wall segment. Stone will be installed on the west side of the original building. Gypsum board installation will take place on the third level of the original building.

Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations: www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=23821

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- Interior finish work continues on the first and second levels of the addition. Gypsum board on the third level of the addition is well under way on the fourth level and will continue next week. Utility rough-ins and metal framing will continue on the fifth level of the addition.

In the existing building, shelving installation and book moving will take place on the third and fourth levels.

Work between the History Building and new addition will continue next week. The installation of metal panels and stone work will continue on the exterior of the addition.

Student Health/Cheney International Center -- The irrigation system is being installed for the Cheney Plaza. Masons are going to start setting up for the seating areas. Backfill will begin for the ramp and steps. The interior framing and door jambs will be installed in the basement and first floor, west wing.

College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- The site excavation and foundation will continue including forming and pouring more foundation walls and stairs. The mechanical/plumbing work will continue in the basement and utility tunnel. Work in the locker room will start during the Thanksgiving holiday. The lockers need to be emptied so they can be removed on Nov. 25.

Centennial Complex -- On Friday, Nov. 14, the Centennial Complex will be closed for testing of the fire alarm system. The Art Museum Galleries will be closed through November. Staging for the contractor is on the northeast side of the building.

UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Interior framing, electrical, mechanical and plumbing rough-ins continue. Exterior wall framing for the addition will continue this week. The contractor will be blocking the south alley at times for utility tie-ins and concrete pours. The construction completion is scheduled for March 2009.

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:

Knight Hall -- The steam line in the basement has been abated. Access through the hallway has returned to normal.

Anthropology Building -- Work continues on the parking lot extension. Disruption to vehicular traffic will be minimal. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed around the construction area.

Downey/White Hall -- A large area of concrete north of Downey Hall and east of White Hall is being replaced. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed around work areas.

Half Acre Gym -- Construction continues on the infield heating and cooling system. The sidewalk on the north side of the building is blocked for a construction staging area. Pedestrian traffic has been rerouted to the wide walkway north of the playground. A temporary partition has been erected toward the west end of the infield to protect the public from possible injury while the construction is ongoing.

Wyoming Hall -- A remodel of the north wing on the fourth floor is in progress. Please use caution around the work area. The project will be completed by the middle of December. Several spaces in the east section of the Wyoming Hall parking lot have been blocked off for a construction staging area.

Fuel Facility -- Work continues on the new fueling facility to the south of CEP (Central Energy Plant). Gibbon Street remains closed to traffic from west of CEP to 19th Street. Access to CEP is from the north off Harney Street. Please watch for concrete trucks and heavy equipment in the area. The south parking lot may be accessed by traveling east, then south around the building. The construction and street closure will continue until project completion.
