Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report: Information Technology (IT) Center (Scheduled completion date: December 2008) -- Landscaping will continue for about three more weeks. Detail work on the exterior continues. Interior work is sequenced with the second and third floors completing first, then the first floor and basement, then the 2nd floor lounge and the main lobby. The wood paneling is being installed in the main lobby. The service elevator will be operational in about two weeks. The flooring and handrails are being completed in both stairs. College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- Work on foundation walls and the lecture hall tiered seating will continue next week. Gypsum board, metal framing and utility rough-ins work will be continuing in the original building. Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Ceiling grid installation will continue on the level one and painting will continue on the second or main level. Drywall installation and the metal framing will continue on the upper levels. At the original Library building, shelving installation will continue on levels three and four. Books will be transferred from the 1970s addition to these floors next week. Work between the History section and the new addition will continue next week. A service drive will be constructed in this area and concrete pavement for this drive will be installed as long as weather permits. Boulders have been set for the Cheney Plaza and site work will continue through the week with little impact on pedestrian traffic along the southwest side of Prexy's. Exterior stone work on the north entry to the Cheney International Center will continue through the week. College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- The site excavation and foundation will continue. This week will include backfilling the basement foundation, form and pour the basement stairs, drill and pour caissons, excavate for grade beams, and begin electrical service. The compactor will be working to compact the soil, causing vibration that will be felt throughout the building. Centennial Complex -- On Friday, Nov. 14, the Centennial Complex will be closed for testing of the fire alarm and pre-action fire suppression systems. Staging for the contractor is on the northeast side of the building. The Art Museum galleries will be closed through November. UW Police Facility -- The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Staging for the contractor is in the north parking lot. Interior framing, electrical, mechanical and plumbing rough-ins continue. The concrete slabs and exterior block walls for the addition are complete. The contractor will be blocking the south alley at times for utility tie-ins. The construction completion is scheduled for March 2009. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week: Knight Hall -- A steam line in the basement will be abated on Tuesday. Access through the hallway will be closed from the freight elevator to room 89. Pedestrians should use the first floor to access areas in the basement. Anthropology Building -- Work continues on the parking lot extension. Disruption to vehicular traffic will be minimal. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed around the construction area. Downey/White Hall -- A large area of concrete north of Downey Hall and east of White Hall is being replaced. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed around work areas. Half Acre Gym -- Construction continues on the infield heating and cooling system. The sidewalk on the north side of the building is blocked for a construction staging area. Pedestrian traffic has been rerouted to the wide walkway north of the playground. A temporary partition has been erected toward the west end of the infield to protect the public from possible injury while the construction is ongoing. Wyoming Hall -- A remodel of the north wing on the fourth floor is in progress. Please use caution around the work area. The project will be completed by the middle of December. Several spaces in the east section of the Wyoming Hall parking lot have been blocked off for a construction staging area. Fuel Facility -- Work continues on the new fueling facility to the south of CEP (Central Energy Plant). Gibbon Street remains closed to traffic from west of CEP to 19th Street. Access to CEP is from the north off Harney Street. Please watch for concrete trucks and heavy equipment in the area. The south parking lot may be accessed by traveling east, then south around the building. The construction and street closure will continue until project completion.
