Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report Information Technology Facility (Scheduled completion date: December 2008) -- The sidewalk and bus stop on King Street will be open for bus traffic no later than next week. Concrete site work and landscape irrigation sleeves will be installed on the south and east sides. The mason will continue washing brick and stone and doing detailing. The metal wall panels are being installed on the north-east stair tower, parapet cap, and first floor infill between exterior windows. The glass installers will be completing the skylights, installing exterior aluminum doors, and sealing windows on the south. Interior work continues throughout. Drywall finishing, painting, and ceiling grids are being installed on the first and second floors. Flooring installation and cabinet installation will begin on the first and second floors. College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- Demolition of interior walls will continue in the existing building as part of the "gutting" on that structure. Excavation and shoring operation is scheduled for the addition. Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- At the addition, window installation will continue and the exterior stone work will begin. Other activities, roofing, drywall, metal framing, electrical rough-ins, and mechanical rough-ins will continue. In the 50's portions of the library, utility rough-ins will continue and metal framing for interior walls will begin. Between the library and Union, demolition will continue to prepare for the landscaped walk way slated for that area. The second floor patch, repair and painting continue. Areas for construction will be identified and sign locations will be determined. Old Power Plant -- Abatement continues. College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- The stone will be removed from the exterior of the west and south elevations. A temporary fence will be erected at the area south of main entry to remove stone not in the main fenced off area. The west roof and wall systems in large Moot court will be removed, including the removal of the footing and foundation walls below grade. The removal of the slab-on-grade concrete will begin in the small Moot court. The ceilings in both court rooms and the small conference room will be removed. Removal of the wall, footing and foundation on south elevation between court rooms will begin. The contractor will attempt to minimize interruptions to the surrounding area activities but dust, noise, and vibration of the building should be expected. Education Annex Third Floor Renovations (Scheduled completion date: August 2008) -- Punch list this week. General Classroom Renovations (Scheduled completion date: Aug. 25) -- Classrooms to be renovated this summer include: AG 1030 and 1032, RH 442, EN 1055, 3105, 3106, 2100, and 2102. Work will continue this weekend. Classrooms will be ready for classes on Monday. Knight Hall Basement Renovations -- Basement restroom ongoing with flooring. Restrooms will be open on Wednesday for public use. Accessible individual and group meeting spaces have been identified on the first floor of Knight Hall to accommodate individuals who cannot access the basement programs. Indoor Practice Facility -- Landscape work on the south, east and north sides of the building will continue through August. Parts of the south and north parking areas will be affected. Staging for the landscape contractor is on the southwest side of the parking lot. The Warburton Plaza sign is scheduled for installation this week on the west drive and will be blocked off in the middle preventing through traffic. Centennial Complex -- Work to replaceme of the pre-action fire suppression system in the building will continue through October. Staging for the contractor is on the northeast side of the building. The Art Museum Galleries will be closed through September and the AHC Reading Room on fourth floor will be closed through the middle of September. From Aug.4 through Sept.15 the Reading Room will be open and temporarily located in the second floor Stock Growers Room. Honors House -- Site work and landscaping will take place on the exterior. Finish work continues on the interior. UW Police Facility --The old UniWyo Credit Union on the corner of 15th and Flint will become the new UW Police Facility. Construction will begin next week with a completion date of March 2009. Old Main Window Replacement (Scheduled completion date: Aug. 31) Windows to be replaced on the fourth and fifth floor. Pedestrian traffic will be restricted on the sidewalk on the southeast corner of the building. The staging area is on the northeast side of the building. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week: Prexy's Pasture -- Due to the newly-installed sod on Prexy's, watering must occur during the day through the last week in August. This will cause some re-routing of traffic to avoid the sprinklers. The run times will be adjusted to minimize interference during class changes. Little League Field -- The bus shelter pad and adjacent sidewalk will be poured Monday or Tuesday. The shelter will be placed on the pad mid-week. Traffic will be re-routed around construction areas as necessary. Beta House -- Excavation for the new bus shelter pad will begin mid-week and the pad and shelter installation should be complete by the end of the week. Traffic will be re-routed around construction areas. Parking Lot North of Physical Plant -- The parking lot will be re-surfaced this week. In addition, new sidewalk and curb and gutter will be installed along 15th Street and Bradley Street to the existing sidewalk on Bradley Street. The lot will be closed and traffic will be detoured around work areas. 15th Street -- Portions of sidewalk and curb & gutter will be replaced along 15th Street between Gibbon and Bradley Streets. Traffic will be detoured around work areas. Anthropology Building -- The house on the northeast corner of 13th and Bradley has been moved and the foundation will be removed and filled in this week. The lot will be graded to prepare for expansion of the parking lot northeast of the new Anthropology Building. Campus Parking Lot Striping -- Striping has been completed for this year except for the South Express Lot, which will be striped this weekend if all goes well. Campus Bike Rack Upgrades -- Installation of new bike racks has been completed. Classroom Building -- Concrete walks and steps at the southeast corner of the building have been completed. Engineering Building -- The area in front of the main entrance to the building has been completed. McIntyre/Orr Hall -- The parking is open Friday for student move-in. Traffic will be controlled through the lot by RLDS during move-in. South Express Parking Lot -- Construction of a new bus shelter pad at the South Express Parking Lot, at 15th Street and Spring Creek, has been completed. 30th Street Parking Lot -- The slab for the bus shelter has been poured, and the shelter set on the slab. Traffic will be re-routed around work areas Half Acre Gym -- The sidewalk on the north side of the building will be temporarily blocked for a construction staging area. Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted to the wide walkway north of the playground. A temporary partition has been erected toward the west end of the infield to protect the public from possible injury while the construction is ongoing. The exercise equipment has been reconfigured and is available for normal use during the project. Completion is scheduled for Oct. 31. Half Acre Gym -- The women's locker room and shower area painting has been completed. McWhinnie Hall -- Tile installation is complete except for the south entry are and some trimming around doors. The second floor is now accessible. Fine Arts -- Carpeting of public areas is in progress and should be complete by the end of August. Wyoming Hall -- A remodel of the north wing on the fourth floor will begin on Monday. Please use caution around the work area. The job will be complete by the middle of October. College of Agriculture -- The west passenger elevator is offline for renovation. This project is expected to complete Aug. 26. Please use the east elevator during this time. Knight Hall -- The elevator will be shut down through the end of August for renovation. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items. Accessible individual and group meeting spaces have been identified on the first floor of Knight Hall to accommodate individuals who cannot access the basement, second and third floor programs. Contact the required department within the building to make arrangements for alternative access, or contact University Disability Support Services for assistance (766-6189, TTY: 766-3073). Steam Distribution System -- The campus steam distribution system is back online. Central Energy Plant (CEP) -- Work has started on the new fueling facility to the south of CEP. Gibbon Street has been closed to traffic from west of CEP to 19th Street. Access to CEP is from the north off Harney Street. The south parking lot may be accessed by traveling east, then south around the building. The construction and street closure will continue until project completion in October.
