Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report Information Technology Facility (Scheduled completion date: December 2008) -- The parking lot south of the Fine Arts Center will be paved and stripped this week. The King Street section will be closed to through traffic for the duration of this work. The sidewalk and bus stop on King Street will be completed this week. A lane of traffic through the construction on Sorority Row will be opened to allow one-way traffic to loop around the mall. The landscaping is scheduled to begin this week. Interior and exterior work on the building continues throughout. Most of the drywall is in place. Painting in portions of the building is scheduled to begin in late August. Check out the webcam at www.uwyo.edu/it_test2/itbldgcam. College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date: Fall 2010) -- Demolition of the existing building will continue. Set up for dewatering of the site will be completed. Layout for excavation and shoring will be started. Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- Work on the addition continues. Brick veneer on the east wall should be completed during the week. Roofing on the north half of the addition and window installation should begin during the week. Work on 13th Street should wrap up during the week. The drive between Ross and Knight halls and circle drive is scheduled to be open on Monday. Traffic between Ross and Knight halls will be changed back to one-way, no entrance to the alley way at 12th and Ivinson streets. Student Health/Cheney International Center (Scheduled completion date: February 2009) -- The addition is being framed and the mechanical rooftop units have been installed. The second floor patch, repair and painting continue. The elevator is now in operation. Additional landscape to the north of the building will begin installation set-up. Areas for construction will be identified and sign locations will be determined. Old Power Plant -- Abatement continues. One boiler has been completed. College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- The construction fence is in place and demolition will be underway this week and will continue through September. The partition wall in the main corridor is in place to separate the construction and the pedestrian access. Education Annex Third Floor Renovations (Scheduled completion date: August 2008) -- Punch list this week. General Classroom Renovations (Scheduled completion date: Aug. 25) -- Classrooms to be renovated this summer include: AG 1030 and 1032, RH 442, EN 1055, 3105, 3106, 2100, and 2102. Knight Hall Basement Renovations -- Basement restroom ongoing with painting. Staging area will take up one space in the Knight Hall alleyway. Accessible individual and group meeting spaces have been identified on the first floor of Knight Hall to accommodate individuals who cannot access the basement programs. Contact the required department within the building to make arrangements for alternative access or contact University Disability Support Services for assistance (766-6189, TTY: 766-3073). Indoor Practice Facility -- Landscape work on the south, east and north sides of the building will continue through August. Parts of the south and north parking areas will be affected. Staging for the landscape contractor is on the southwest side of the parking lot. The Warburton Plaza sign is scheduled for installation this week. The west drive will be blocked off in the middle preventing through traffic. Centennial Complex -- Work for the replacement of the pre-action fire suppression system in the building will continue through October. Staging for the contractor is on the northeast side of the building. The Art Museum galleries will be closed through September and the AHC Reading Room on the fourth floor will be closed through the end of August. From Aug. 4-Sept. 15, the Reading Room will be open and temporarily located in the second floor Stock Growers Room. Honors House -- Painting and trim work will continue on the interior. Grading in preparation of landscaping will begin on the exterior. Old Main Window Replacement (Scheduled completion date: Aug. 31) -- Windows to be replaced on the second and third floor. Pedestrian traffic will be restricted on the sidewalk on the southeast corner of the building. The staging area is on the northeast side of the building. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week: Campus Parking Lot Striping -- Striping will continue for the next couple of weeks. Next week, various crosswalks on east and west campus will be striped. Traffic will be diverted to one side of the street and then the other to allow continued flow during the striping. Please yield to oncoming traffic. Campus Bike Rack Upgrades - Bike rack installations continue across west campus. Pedestrian traffic will be routed around installation areas as necessary. New racks have been installed between Half Acre and the College of Education, between Half Acre and the Wyoming Union and in the Science Plaza east of the Classroom Building. In all, 38 new racks are being installed to increase bike parking by about 450 spaces. Prexy's Pasture -- Due to the newly-installed sod on Prexy's, watering must occur during the day through the last week in August. This will cause some re-routing of traffic to avoid the sprinklers. The run times will be adjusted to minimize interference during class changes. Classroom Building -- Concrete walks and one step at the southeast corner of the building will be poured Monday. Concrete will not be replaced on the east side of the building until next year due to utility issues in the area. Traffic will be re-routed around work areas and the area should be open by mid-week. Engineering Building - The area in front of the main entrance to the building will be finished with decorative concrete Monday or Tuesday. Traffic will be re-routed around work areas. McIntyre/Orr Hall - Paving of the parking lot will begin Monday and be completed Wednesday. The lot will be striped Thursday and open Friday for student move-in. The lot will be closed at the intersections with King Street and Grand Avenue until Friday morning. 15th Street -- Resurfacing and replacement of curb and gutter and sidewalk between Gibbon and Bradley streets will begin Tuesday. The parking lot north of the Service Building will be resurfaced at the same time. The street will be closed, from Gibbon to Bradley, for about three weeks and traffic will be re-routed around work areas. South Express Parking Lot -- Construction of a new bus shelter pad at the South Express Parking Lot, at 15th Street and Spring Creek, will be completed Tuesday. The parking lot will also be striped. Traffic will be re-routed around work areas. 30th Street Parking Lot - The slab for the bus shelter will be poured Tuesday and the shelter set on the slab Wednesday or Thursday. Traffic will be re-routed around work areas Beta House -- Abatement has been completed. Carpet replacement will continue for a couple of more days. The north side will be painted in the next few weeks. Half Acre Gym -- The HVAC project in the infield has started. A partition has been constructed in the infield to separate facility users from the construction area. A fenced-in staging area will be constructed on the north side of the building for the duration of the project. Completion is scheduled for Oct. 31, 2008. Half Acre Gym -- The women's locker room and shower area will be painted beginning Monday and continuing through the week. During the work, the facilities in that area will be unavailable. The changing room will be accessible and access to lockers will be maintained for retrieving and securing personal items. McWhinnie Hall -- Tile installation continues on the second floor through Aug. 17. The second floor will remain closed through this time. Access to the third floor is through the fire escape on the east side of the building. College of Agriculture -- The west passenger elevator is offline for renovation. This project is expected to complete Aug. 21. Please use the east elevator during this time. Student Health -- The elevator is now in service. The majority of the building remains offline due to the Cheney International Center construction. The east entrance is open for the remaining offices within the building. Knight Hall -- The elevator will be shut down through the end of August for renovation. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items. Accessible individual and group meeting spaces have been identified on the first floor of Knight Hall to accommodate individuals who cannot access the basement, second and third floor programs. Contact the required department within the building to make arrangements for alternative access, or contact University Disability Support Services for assistance (766-6189, TTY: 766-3073). Knight Hall -- A small remodel is being done in the Admissions Office. Please use caution around the work area. The job will be complete by Aug. 22. College of Business -- Water will be shut off next week to facilitate work at the College of Business construction site. All UW buildings will continue to have water; however, temporary feeds will be in place for Wyoming Hall, Fraternity and Sorority Row and the Fine Arts Center. Please avoid barricaded areas. Steam Distribution System -- The campus steam distribution system is shut down for annual maintenance and should be back on by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. Unexpected equipment repairs have extended the shutdown period by three days. During the shutdown, buildings connected to the system will have no building heat or domestic hot water. The distribution system encompasses the area bounded from 9th to 15th streets and Ivinson to Lewis streets, plus 15th to approximately 20th and Grand Avenue to Harney Street. The six residence halls and the Washakie and Crane-Hill cafeterias will not be affected. Central Energy Plant (CEP) -- Work has started on the new fueling facility to the south of CEP. Gibbon Street has been closed to traffic from west of CEP to 19th Street. Access to CEP is from the north off Harney Street. The south parking lot may be accessed by traveling east, then south around the building. The construction and street closure will continue until project completion in October.
