Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report for Aug. 3-9 Information Technology Facility (Scheduled completion date: December 2008) -- The parking lot south of the Fine Arts Center will be under construction until mid August. This section of King Street will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of this work. The paving of Sorority Row and the parking lot is scheduled to occur before Aug. 20. Interior and exterior work on the building continues throughout. Check out the webcam at www.uwyo.edu/it_test2/itbldgcam. College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date, fall 2010) -- Interior demolition will continue on the upper floor of the existing structure. Asbestos abatement will be taking place on the main floor. Demolition of the windows of the existing will begin. Work in the street has been completed. Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations: www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=23821 ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) --The Disability Support Services Lab and the University Testing Center have been moved to the basement of Knight Hall. The Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning has been moved to the basement of the Engineering Building. The addition continues to progress along with rough-ins and metal stud framing at the interior. Masonry installation will continue on the south side and shift to the east side. Roofing on the south half of the addition will begin during the week. At 13th street, work on the side walk should finish up during the week. Interior work on the 50s addition will include asbestos abatement of the wainscot in the stair way of the existing building. The ramp to the Student Health entrance is being completed. The second floor fire suppression, ceiling grid and wall extensions are being installed. The elevator is out of service. College of Law, Moot Court Addition and Renovation -- Drahota Construction will mobilize and fence the south west area of the building and a portion of the parking lot south of the Law building and east of the Fine Arts building. Site preparation and demolition could begin in early August. Education Annex Third Floor Renovations (Scheduled completion date: August, 2008) -- Second floor construction continues with punch list. Staging area will take up three spaces in the Education parking lot. General Classroom Renovations, Phase 1 (Scheduled completion date: Aug. 25, 2008) -- Classrooms to be renovated this summer include: AG 1030 and 1032, RH 442, EN 1055, 3105, 3106, 2100, and 2102. Electrical and HVAC installation will continue this week. Staging area will take up two spaces behind the Agriculture Building. Knight Hall Basement Renovations (Scheduled completion date: Aug. 8.) -- Basement restroom ongoing with sheetrock. Staging area will take up one space in the Knight Hall alleyway. Indoor Practice Facility -- Landscape work on the west, north and south sides of the building will continue into August. Staging for the landscape contractor is on the southwest side of the parking lot. Centennial Complex -- Work for the replacement of the pre-action fire suppression system in the building will continue through October. Staging for the contractor is on the northeast side of the building. The Art Museum Galleries will be closed through September and the AHC Reading Room on 4th floor will be closed through the middle of August. From Aug. 4 through Aug.15 the Reading Room will be open and temporarily located in the 2nd floor Stock Growers Room. Honors House -- The Kappa Sigma fraternity house at 15th and Willett Drive is being converted to a home for students in the Honors Program. The upper two floor of the original building will be ready for a final inspection. Tile and counter work will continue in the toilets of the addition. Painting and trim work will take place on the main and lower floors. Old Main Window Replacement (Scheduled completion date: Aug. 31, 2008) -- Windows to be replaced on the first and second floor. Pedestrian traffic will be restricted on the sidewalk on the southeast corner of the building. The staging area is on the northeast side of the building. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week: Campus Parking Lot Striping -- Striping of parking lots is continuing for the next couple of weeks. The handicap spots in the lot east of Crane Hall and the lot east of the Arena-Auditorium will be striped next week. The lots will remain open with sections being blocked off during the painting. College of Engineering -- Concrete is being replaced in front of the main entrance to Engineering. Work should be completed by mid-week. Traffic will be re-routed to the Petroleum Engineering entrance or the side entrance. Geology/Physical Sciences -- Concrete between the two buildings has been replaced, but the area will be closed to vehicle traffic until late in the week. Traffic will be re-routed to the south. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed around the area via the Geology building walkways. College of Arts and Sciences -- Portions of sidewalks will be replaced on the south side of Art and Sciences early in the week. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed around work areas. Signs will be posted for handicap accessible routes. Classroom Building -- Concrete walks and one step at the SE corner of the classroom building will be replaced starting on Monday or Tuesday to correct a drainage problem in that area. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed around work areas. Old Main -- Concrete sidewalks will be replaced on the west side of Old Main starting on Wednesday. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed around work areas. McIntyre/Orr Hall -- The parking lot will be re-surfaced this week. The lot will be closed at the intersections with King Street and Grand Avenue. Beta House -- Carpet removal and asbestos abatement will be ongoing in the Beta House for the next couple of weeks. Work on the third floor will be completed next week; normal access to the building should be restored mid week. Work in the basement will begin and be completed on a room by room schedule. Asbestos abatement work will be done in the evenings and on weekends. Until normal access is restored, please contact a department in the building to make arrangements for appointments or information needs, or call Disability Support Services at 766-6189. Fine Arts -- The work on the irrigation well house has been completed and traffic flow has been returned to normal. Half Acre Gym -- The HVAC project in the infield is expected to begin the second half of August with completion by Oct. 30, 2008. College of Agriculture -- The east passenger elevator is offline for renovation. This project is expected to complete Aug. 5. Please use the west elevator during this time. Student Health -- The elevator is out of service until approximately August 5. The majority of the building is offline due to the Cheney International Center construction. The east entrance is open for the remaining offices within the building. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items. For persons with disability access needs, contact the required department within the building to make arrangements to accommodate the need, or call University Disabilities Support Services for information. Knight Hall -- The elevator will be shut down through the end of August for renovation. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items. Accessible individual and group meeting spaces have been identified on the first floor of Knight Hall to accommodate individuals who cannot access the basement, second, and third floor programs. Contact the required department within the building to make arrangements for alternative access or contact University Disability Support Services for assistance (766-6189, TTY: 766-3073). Steam Distribution System -- The campus steam distribution system will be shut down for annual maintenance beginning 5 p.m., Friday, Aug.1 and should be back on by 5 p.m. Sunday, August 17. During this time, the buildings connected to the system will have no building heat or domestic hot water. The distribution system encompasses the area bounded from 9th to 15th and Ivinson to Lewis, plus 15th to approximately 20th and Grand to Harney. The six residence halls and the Washakie and Crane-Hill Cafeterias will not be affected. Central Energy Plant (CEP) -- Work has started on the new fueling facility to the south of CEP. Gibbon Street has been closed to thru traffic from west of CEP to 19th Street. Access to CEP is from the north off Harney Street. The south parking lot may be accessed by traveling east, then south around the building. The construction and street closure will continue until project completion in October.
