Facilities Planning Project Managers' Report for June 8-14 College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Scheduled Completion Date, fall 2010) -- The Union parking lot and the College of Business parking lot are closed. A pedestrian walk way will be created along the north side of the staging areas. The east side of the Union lot will be used for the shuttle bus traffic. The north side of the lot will have reserved parking for vehicles associated with the Union operations and some metered parking. Parking for the disabled will remain near the north side of the Union. Asbestos abatement is taking place within the building and will continue until the end of the month. Faculty and staff in the UW College of Business have relocated to Crane Hall because of the renovation project. Go here for a list of the new office locations: www.uwyo.edu/news/showrelease.asp?id=23821 ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- Addition will continue with steel erection, slab pours, exterior metal wall framing, and utility rough-ins. The structural steel frame should be completed by the end of the week. A sewer line to Ivinson Street from the facility should be complete during the week. Work on 13th Street is held up due to rain and discovery of a concrete vault. Planning is under way to shift the vault out of the way of construction. Reroofing the 70s portion of the library will began during the week. Office furniture is scheduled to be installed on the 6th level during the week, and staff relocated to that level by the end of the week. The Disability Suppot Services Lab and the University Testing Center have been moved to the basement of Knight Hall. The Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning (ECTL) has been moved to the basement of the Engineering Building. This is a permanent move for the testing center but temporary moves for DSS and the ECTL until the new addition is completed. Departments within the library will be relocated as necessary to clear the 3rd and 4th levels of the original building for renovation can begin there. Student Health/Cheney International Center (Scheduled completion date: February 2009) -- Work continues on the addition. The second floor mechanical is being installed. The elevator is out of service and will be under repair for the next several weeks. Information Technology Facility (Scheduled completion date: December 2008) --The chilled water lines work will continue to affect access to Fraternity Row and Sorority Row. Water line connection at the intersection of King St. and 17th St. will be marked this week and work will begin within the next two weeks. Brick and stone work will be complete on all sides of the building with the last area being the middle of the south side. The main roofing should complete this week except for cap flashing and some detailing. Glass framing will occur on the south balcony while glass installation will take place on the south stair tower and south entry. Drywall framing and installation as well as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and low voltage work also continues throughout the building. Education Annex Third Floor Renovations - (Scheduled completion date: July 25, 2008) -- Construction ongoing with paint and tile. Staging area will take up three spaces in the Education parking lot. General Classroom Renovations, Phase 1 - (Scheduled completion date: Aug. 25, 2008) -- Classrooms to be renovated this summer include: AG 1030 and 1032, RH 442, EN 1055, 3015, 3106, 2100, and 2102. Demolition will begin the week of June 8th. Staging area will take up two spaces behind the Agriculture Building. Indoor Practice Facility -- Landscape work on the west side of the building will continue into June. Staging for the landscape contractor is on the southwest side of the parking lot. Exterior building metal work has staredt on the lower south side with the remaining lower sections continuing through next week. The upper exterior areas will follow. Pedestrian traffic around the building will be closed at different times. Honors House -- The Kappa Sigma fraternity house at 15th and Willett Drive is being converted to a home for students in the Honors Program. Interior gypsum board will continue in the existing facility. Mechanical and electrical rough-ins will be completed on the additions during the week allowing the installation of drywall. The sewer line from the facility will be installed to the street south of the structure. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week: Half Acre Gym -- The roof over the infield area is complete, and the fenced construction area has been removed. The air conditioning work will not start for a couple more weeks. College of Engineering -- The east passenger elevator will be offline until early July. Please use the west elevator during this time. Bureau of Mines Building -- The elevator will remain offline for one more week. Patrons are asked to use the stairs for access to upper floors. Coordination of deliveries is being handled by WRI administration and the Physical Plant project manager. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items. Alternatively, contact may be made with the University Disabilities Support Services office. Prexy's Pasture -- The next artist installation will begin June 9 on the east end of Prexy's. Pedestrian flow may be affected for short times on Monday and Tuesday. Student Health -- The elevator is out of service for 6-8 weeks. The majority of the building is offline due to the Cheney International Center construction. The east entrance is open for the remaining offices within the building. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items.
