Facilities Planning project managers' report for week of May 18-24

ILLC, Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- At the addition, utility rough ins, steel erection, and concrete floor installation will continue. Metal framing at the exterior walls will take place on the ground level.

Work on 13th street will include forming curbs and gutters as well as grading for the road way. 13th street will be closed for approximately eight weeks. The alley between Knight and Ross halls has two-way traffic.

Information Technology Facility (Scheduled completion date: December 2008) -- Site work: The chilled water lines running north-south are being connected to the valves at Willett Street. The excavation runs south toward the new building crossing the construction staging area on the west side of the site within the fenced area. The lines running east-west will be installed in the Sorority Row street beginning in about two weeks. A temporary entry/exit has been set up on the east end of the site directly west of the Fine Arts building entrance. The construction fence on King Street will be moved out onto the street to allow for reconstruction of the south entry/sidewalk. Pedestrian access will be routed to the south side of the street.

Drywall and light gauge metal framing: Drywall began in the 2nd floor Central Machine Room two weeks ago. Drywall installation continues in some areas on the 1st floor. Light gauge metal stud framing continues on the 3rd floor, the south entrance, the south stair tower, lobby atrium, and 2nd floor lounge/atrium.

Fire Protection: Installing piping at the south stair tower and north stair tower.

Masonry: Brick on the west end was completed last week. Brick will continue this week on the north side and started on the south side. The stone looks different colors because some of it has been washed and some still has the mortar and dust from the cutting process.

Roofing: Working on the main roof. The postponing of the roof completion has postponed the installation of drywall.

Plumbing and HVAC: 2nd and 3rd floor waste, vent, storm drains, and pipe insulation. Installing ducts and fan units on the 3rd floor. Duct pressure test on the 1st floor passed last week. Test will continue on the 2nd floor this week.

Electrical: 1st floor, complete rough in, near completion of cable tray, continue pulling wire. 2nd floor, continue rough in, pull wire, and install cable tray. Working on the overhead rough-in the Central Machine Room.

Glass: Taking measurements and doing fabrication. Installing framing at the north and south stair towers.

Honors House -- The Kappa Sigma fraternity house at 15th and Willett Drive is being converted to a home for students in the Honors Program. Sewer pipe from the south side of the facility to the street will be installed. Roofing will take place at the additions. Gypsum board installation will be taking place in the interior. The electrical service to the building will be install which will result in an electrical shut down on Monday affecting Sigma Nu. The Centrex building and greenhouse may experience a short outage.
