Facilities Planning project managers' report for week of April 27-May 3 ILLC -- Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009) -- At the addition, erection of steel and placement of decking will continue on the north half. Concrete will be placed on the 4th level. Work will continue on the foundation wall at the north entrance. Installation of the ceramic tile in toilets and case work will be completed during the week. Air handler for the area will be shipped and possibly installed at the end of the week. 13th street will close beginning May 12. The alley north of Knight Hall will accommodate two-way traffic and access the circle drive at the Wyoming Union. Construction activities will require relocation of some Coe Library offices. Information Technology Facility (Scheduled completion date: December 2008) -- Site work: Excavation for the chilled water line starts at the northeast corner of the building. The line will be installed in the Sorority Row street and run north across the site to connect at Willett Drive. The roads will be open until May 12. Drywall and light gauge metal framing: Drywall installation to start in some areas on the 1st floor. Light gauge metal stud framing on the 3rd floor, the south entrance, the south stair tower, lobby atrium, and 2nd floor lounge/atrium. Fire Protection: Installing piping on the 2nd and 3rd floors; Masonry: Brick on the west end; Roofing: The first layer of roof over the east end of the Central Machine Room will be complete. Work will progress on the roof of the rest of the building. Plumbing and sheet metal: 1st floor near completion of room heating and air conditioning units, fire/smoke dampers, temperature controls, and piping. 2nd floor continue installation of room heating and air conditioning units, fire/smoke dampers, temperature controls, and piping. 3rd floor starts installation of room heating and air conditioning units, fire/smoke dampers, temperature controls, and piping. 4th floor mechanical penthouse continues installation of the rooftop air handling units and pumps. Work will continue on this equipment for several weeks. Electrical: 1st floor, complete rough in, near completion of cable tray, begin pulling wire. 2nd floor ,continue rough in, cable tray and electrical rooms. 3rd floor, set equipment in electrical rooms; Glass: Taking measurements and doing fabrication. Check out the webcam at www.uwyo.edu/it_test2/itbldgcam . Indoor Practice Facility -- Landscape work on the west side of the building has started and will continue though the first part of May. Staging for the landscape contractor is on the southwest side of the parking lot. Concrete replacement on the west drive will be complete this week. Honors House -- The Kappa Sigma fraternity house at 15th and Willett Drive is being converted to a home for students in the Honors Program. Framing will continue on the north and south additions. Drywall installation will start inside the building. Education Annex Third Floor Renovations (Scheduled completion date: July 2008) -- Construction ongoing with electricians. Staging area will take up three spaces in the Education parking lot. Knight Hall Basement Renovations (Scheduled completion date: May 15, 2008) -- Construction ongoing with plumbing and electricians. Staging area will take up one space in the Knight Hall alleyway. College of Business -- At the end of the spring semester, faculty and staff in the College of Business will move to the lower three levels of Crane Residence Hall. The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week: Half Acre Gym -- The roof of the infield area is being replaced and an air conditioning unit will be installed. A fenced construction area with a pedestrian walkway has been set up on the east side of the building. Indoor air temperature may be affected as construction activities continue. Work will continue for the remainder of the semester. College of Engineering -- The west passenger elevator is back in service. The east elevator has been taken out of service to be upgraded and will be offline until early July. Please use the west elevator during this time. Bureau of Mines Building -- Work is progressing on the elevator. It will remain offline for a few more weeks. Patrons are asked to use the stairs for access to upper floors. Coordination of deliveries is being handled by WRI administration and the Physical Plant project manager. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items. For persons with disability access needs, contact the required department within the building to make arrangements to accommodate the need and take care of necessary business.
