Facilities Planning project managers' report for week of March 9-15.
ILLC -- Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009)
Form work will continue for the foundation wall along the east wall of the addition. Components of the stair system will be installed inside the stair tower. Structural steel will begin arriving on site and installed. Ceiling grid installation as well as electrical and mechanical trim out will take place on the 5th and 6th levels.
Information Technology Facility (Scheduled completion date: December 2008)Concrete barricades and the construction fence on the southeast area of the site along King Street will remain in place for several weeks for construction of the concrete walls surrounding the Chiller Yard. Some of the walls of the chiller yard were poured last week. Additional walls will be poured this week. The fourth floor penthouse and stairs were poured last week. Structural steel is nearly complete.
Detailing and punch-list work will continue on several areas of the building for several more days. The big blue crane will remain on site until the latter part of March. Exterior wall metal framing is around most of the first and second floors. Masonry is underway at both the east and west ends of the building and will continue for several weeks.
Interior work sequencing is as follows: Light gauge metal framing occurs in the first floor. Most of the interior offices on the first floor are framed. Framing on the second floor starts this week. Main plumbing pipes, air ducts, and electrical conduit work continues in the basement and on the first floor. Work will move up to the second and third floors this week. Fire-proofing of the steel structure was inspected week.

UW Plaza (Hotel and Conference Center)
The Hilton Garden Inn opened for business on Feb. 4.
The interior of the Conference Center was completed Feb. 15. Minor punch list work will take place around the scheduled events and normal operation.

Honors House
The Kappa Sigma fraternity house at 15th and Willett Drive is being converted to a home for students in the Honors Program. Masonry for the elevator shaft will be installed, followed by the wood framing of the east addition. Mechanical and electrical rough-ins will continue at the interior of the building
Education Annex Third Floor Renovations (Scheduled completion date: July 2008) Construction ongoing with drywall and electricians. Staging area will take up three spaces in the Education parking lot. During the week of Spring Break, March 17-21, the contractor will be using a crane to do selective demolition. This will require the Education parking lot to be blocked off for safety reasons.
Old Power Plant
Asbestos abatement continues.
The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:
Normal traffic flow has been restored around the pump house in the parking lot north of the Fine Arts Center and west of the Law Building. While most of the work has been completed, some barricades will remain in place until the pump is rebuilt and replaced. The project should be completed in four to five weeks.
The west passenger elevator in the College of Engineering is out of service for another month or so. The east elevator should be used while the west elevator is off line.
The freight elevator in the Agriculture Building will remain out of service for a few more weeks. One of the two passenger elevators should be used for deliveries during the down time. Call the Physical Plant Service Desk at (307) 766-6225 to make arrangements for delivery of large items.
The elevator in the Bureau of Mines building is out of service for about two more months. Patrons are asked to use the stairs for access to upper floors. Coordination of deliveries is being handled by WRI administration and the Physical Plant project manager. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items. For persons with disability access needs, contact the required department within the building to make arrangements to accommodate the need and take care of necessary business. Alternatively, contact may be made with the University Disabilities Support Services office.
Snow and ice removal activities continue as needed. Individuals are reminded to yield to snow removal equipment. Information on areas of concern should be directed to the Physical Plant Service Desk, (307) 766-6225.
