Facilities Planning project managers' report for week of Feb. 10-16
ILLC -- Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009)
Drilled piers have been completed. A portion of the south and east foundation walls have been installed. Setting forms and tying reinforcing bars will continue on the foundation walls. Caps for drilled piers and foundations for stairs are also being installed. Under slab rough-ins for mechanical and electrical will also take place. Installation of gypsum board as well as mechanical and electrical rough-ins will continue on the 5th and 6th floors.
Information Technology Facility (Scheduled completion date: December 2008)
Concrete barricades and the construction fence on the southeast area of the site along King Street will be moved further south into the street to allow for the construction of the Generator/Chiller yard. Four parking spaces to the east of the Chiller yard will be removed and four parking spaces to the west of this yard will be added. Work will occur on the electrical service will not affect the surrounding buildings.
The schedule for concrete work is as follows: Feb. 12 -- pour second floor slab on deck east end; Feb. 14 -- pour second floor slab-on-deck west end, topping out of concrete shear walls and stripping forms throughout the week.
Structural steel is nearly complete. Detailing and punch-list work will continue. The steel topping-out ceremony was held Feb. 6. The construction team and the IT staff signed a steel beam that was craned to the top of the building. The beam will be visible from inside the mechanical penthouse. Steel erection will continue the week.
Interior work sequencing is as follows: Light gauge metal framing occurs in the first floor. Main plumbing, ducts, and electrical work continues in the basement and on the first floor. Rough-in electrical conduits will be installed on the third floor slab-on-deck and in the 4th floor penthouse slab-on-deck.

UW Plaza (Hotel and Conference Center)
The interior finishes in the Conference Center are mostly complete. Minor detail work is being completed on the wall paper, wood trim, and carpet. The audio visual and Internet equipment installation will be completed the week of Feb. 11. Framed artwork will be installed Feb. 12 & 13. Window coverings are nearly finished and will be completed the week of Feb. 11.
A well-attended ribbon cutting ceremony for the Hilton Garden Inn and the UW Conference Center was held on Monday, Feb. 4. The hotel is open for business. The first event scheduled for the Conference Center is on Feb. 15.

Honors House
The Kappa Sigma fraternity house at 15th and Willett Drive is being converted to a home for students in the Honors Program. Mechanical and electrical rough-ins continues. Gypsum board installation will begin on the upper two levels. Foundations for the east and south additions are being worked on.
Education Annex Third Floor Renovations
Construction ongoing with Framing and Electricians. Staging area will take up three spaces in the Education Parking lot.
Knight Hall Window Replacement (Scheduled completion date: Feb. 25, 2008)
Windows on the third floor to be replaced this week. The staging area is in the south four parking spots of the Hoyt Hall parking lot.
IPF (Indoor Practice Facility)
Work continues on interior punch list items and exterior trim work. There are no closures or detours anticipated.
Old Power Plant
Asbestos abatement going well and will continue for the next several weeks.
The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities scheduled for the week:
The west passenger elevator in the College of Engineering will be out of service beginning Monday, and will remain out of service for approximately two months. The east elevator should be used while the west elevator is off line.
The freight elevator in the Agriculture Building will remain out of service for about one more month. One of the two passenger elevators should be used for deliveries during the down time. Call the Physical Plant Service Desk at (307) 766-6225 to make arrangements for delivery of large items.
The elevator in the Bureau of Mines building is out of service for approximately three more months. Patrons will be required to use the stairs for access to upper floors. Coordination of deliveries is being handled by WRI administration and the Physical Plant project manager. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items. For persons with disability access needs, contact the required department within the building to make arrangements to accommodate the need and take care of necessary business. Alternatively, contact may be made with the University Disabilities Support Services office.
Snow and ice removal activities continue as needed. Individuals are reminded to yield to snow removal equipment. Information on areas of concern should be directed to the Physical Plant Service Desk, (307) 766-6225.
