Campus Construction update for Week of Jan. 6-12

To allow semi-truck access to the University of Wyoming Coe Library, 13th Street North of Ivinson Street will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 9-10.

No parking will be allowed on either side of the street those two days. Service vehicles and persons with disabilities may access Ross and Knight halls via 12th Street between Knight and Hoyt halls. This access will be two-way for these two days only.

Handicapped parking on the northeast portion of 13th will be unaffected, with access through 12th Street.

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities for the week of Jan. 6-12:

The freight elevator in the Engineering Building is back in service.

The freight elevator in the Agriculture Building is being taken out of service Friday, Jan. 4, and will be out of service for approximately eight weeks. One of the remaining two elevators should be used for deliveries during the down time. Call the Physical Plant Service Desk at 766-6225 to make arrangements for delivery of large items.

The elevator in the Bureau of Mines building will be taken out of service Monday, Jan. 7, and be out of service for approximately 4 months. Patrons will be required to use the stairs for access to upper floors. Coordination of deliveries is being handled by WRI administration and the Physical Plant project manager. Call the Service Desk for information on deliveries of large items.

The lobby of McWhinnie Hall is being renovated and will be inaccessible beginning Monday, Jan. 7. Access to the building will be through the south or east entrances. The closure should last for one week.

Snow removal activity continues as needed, and individuals are reminded to yield to snow removal equipment. Information on areas of concern should be directed to the Physical Plant Service Desk, 766-6225.

Facilities Planning project managers' updates for Jan. 6-12:

Hoyt Hall Window Replacement
Replacement of Hoyt Hall windows is substantially complete. The staging area is in the south four parking spots of the Hoyt Hall parking lot.

Knight Hall Window Replacement
Replacement of Knight Hall windows will cause minor sidewalk closures around the building through Feb. 1. The staging area is in the south four parking spots of the Hoyt Hall parking lot. Anticipated completion of the Knight Hall window replacement is Feb. 15.

Education Annex Third Floor Renovations (Scheduled completion date: July 2008) Construction continues  with demolition and abatement.  The staging area will take up three spaces in the Education parking lot.

Honors House
The Kappa Sigma fraternity house at 15th and Willett Drive is being converted to a home for students in the Honors Program. The project is scheduled to be substantially complete mid July of 2008.  There will be no parking along Willett directly behind the facility because that area will be part of the contractor's staging area.

Power Plant Berry and Center for Natural History and Conservation
Asbestos abatement for the old power plant on Lewis Street is scheduled to begin Monday,Beginning Monday, Jan. 7, engineers will require eight parking places in the lots north of Lewis Street for one or two days to conduct soil tests for the Berry Building. Cones will be placed in the required parking spots.
Jan. 7.  The project is scheduled to take place for 70  work days.

Due to the holiday break, there are no Facilities Planning project managers' updates for ILLC  Information Library and Learning Center (scheduled completion date: September 2009); the Information Technology Facility (scheduled completion date: December 2008); the UW Plaza (Hotel and Conference Center) scheduled to open in February; or the Indoor Practice Facility.
