Campus Construction update for Week of Dec. 16-22

For the week of Dec. 16-22, Physical Plant will be removing snow on campus as needed. They ask everyone to yield to snow removal equipment to ensure safe operations. Questions, or information on areas of concern, should be directed to the Physical Plant Service Desk at 766-6225 or svsdesk@uwyo.edu.

ILLC -- Information Library and Learning Center (Scheduled completion date: September 2009)
Excavation and installation of shoring along the south side of the excavated area us continuing.

Storm sewer installation between Coe Library and the Wyoming Union is continuing.

Rough in for electrical distribution panels in the 1970s addition continuing.

Wrap up of sidewalk and curb installation on west side of 13th street is delayed due to weather. The work has not been rescheduled.

Information Technology Facility (Scheduled completion date: December 2008)
The remaining sections of the concrete foundation walls were completed last week. The first floor west side was poured Friday, The first floor east side is scheduled to be poured on Dec. 18. Structural steel erection will continue through January with a topping out ceremony to be scheduled in January.

The first floor is being enclosed with temporary walls so that the space can be heated prior to the concrete pours. Work on the interior electrical and plumbing systems will continue in the basement and first floor.

UW Plaza (Hotel and Conference Center)
The overall site work is complete with the exception of some landscaping. The completion of the landscaping is dependent on the weather and the development of the retail lots. The new stoplight at 24th and Grand is scheduled for completion early in 2008. Temporary traffic signs are installed until the stop light is complete.

The retail signs on the site are scheduled to be completed in January. Work on the stone bases for the signs is being done this month. The majority of the Conference Center work is on the interior. This work includes wall coverings, trim, installation of doors and partitions, installation of kitchen equipment, trimming out electrical, plumbing, ceiling fixtures, telephone and data, etc. The center's ballroom is being used to store the furniture for the hotel and the conference center. Carpet installation will occur at the end of January.

The Hotel and Conference Center is scheduled to open in February. Several of the retail sites are scheduled to open in early 2008.

Indoor Practice Facility
The landscaping and site work will not be completed because of the onset of cold weather and lack of an irrigation system to support the landscaping this fall. Much detail-related work remains.

Honors House
The Kappa Sigma fraternity house at 15th and Willett Drive is being converted to a home for students in the Honors Program. The project is scheduled to be substantially complete mid July of 2008. Construction began last week; Dec. 10. There will be no parking along Willett directly behind the facility because that area will be part of the contractor's staging area.

Hoyt Hall Window Replacement
Replacement of Hoyt Hall windows will require minor painting in the building through Dec. 18. The staging area is in the south four parking spots of the Hoyt Hall parking lot.

Knight Hall Window Replacement
Replacement of Knight Hall windows will cause minor sidewalk closures around the building Dec. 20th through Feb. 1. The staging area is in the south four parking spots of the Hoyt Hall parking lot. Anticipated completion of the Knight Hall window replacement is Feb. 15.

Education Annex Third Floor Renovations (Scheduled completion date: July 2008)
Construction will begin in early January. Staging area will take up three spaces in the College of Education parking lot.
