Undergraduate Learning Outcomes

The Anthropology Department teaches courses in all four sub-fields, Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology and Linguistic Anthropology. The department believes that this breadth is the strength of anthropology. The department also believes that undergraduates should be offered multiple opportunities for research experiences in both field and laboratory settings. The department stresses student learning and integration of anthropological theory and current issues through synthesis and analysis in the classroom. These learning objectives will be measured by assessing the following learning outcomes for the Anthropology undergraduates.

  1. Student demonstrates knowledge about the four fields of anthropology and their interrelationship.
  2. Student participates in a research experience and understands its process.
  3. Student demonstrates ability to analyze and synthesize in relation to anthropological issues or theories.
