The Wyoming Folklife Archive

The Archive Collections

The Wyoming Folk Art Archive, 1977-1993, contains more than 5,500 color slides, 260 audiotapes, 200 photographs, hundreds of manuscript files, and video tapes, which document the rich heritage of folk arts and culture in Wyoming.

The collection represents a comprehensive survey of Wyoming's folk artisans and ethnic traditions. The collection also contains some materials which document the folk art environments and traditions in other states in the Rocky Mountain Region. There are some photographic materials which document various examples of non-folk architecture.

The primary collector and photographer of the Wyoming Folk Art Archive Project was Tim H. Evans, Folk Arts Coordinator, American Studies Program, University of Wyoming.
