Shops at 17th and Grand Ave

This shopping area at is accross the street from the University of Wyoming residence halls. Several of the stores in this strip mall cater to a young, college crowd: Mellow Yellow, High on Hair, and Bigfoot's Lair. Mellow Yellow sells "Hippy" clothes. Bigfoot sells fantasy gaming materials, and High on Hair is a youth oriented beauty salon.

Notice that brown and yellow (the University of Wyoming colors) dominate these stores' signs.

Accross 17th from this strip mall (to the right of this picture), Cowboy Books & Supply and The Library Bar and Restraunt also attract students. The book store is an independently run source for textbooks and university logo apparel. The bar and packaged liquour store is the most accessible source of alcohol to the residence halls.

Although Grand Avenue officially marks the campus boundary, the strong university flavor of these two blocks of stores indicates that campus spreads, at least, accross the street.
