Introduction

I focused on the block of 2nd Street, Ivinson Avenue, 1st Street, and Grand Avenue.

I was surprised at the variety of window display in this block. While this section of downtown Laramie is not without its share of elaborate window displays, the most of the displays have only a minimum of actual display in them.

Overall, the window displays on 2nd Street show a sense of luxurious abundance of highly organized and inviting window displays. In comparison, the other streets’ window displays vary from a low abundance of items loosely organized while still inviting to the consumer to displays that have a low abundance of items highly organized that exclude the consumer.

The image of Laramie projected by the windows, therefore, varies from an image focused on middle to upper-class luxury open visually to the public to an image of presumed luxury open to the public by specific invitation or appointment only.
