If you are new to Denver in the past three years, chances are you've been welcomed to the Mile High City by UW National Ambassadors (UWNA). Each fall, UWNA's regional group plans and hosts a "Welcome to Denver" event, complete with information on area attractions, housing considerations, and plenty of resident UW alumni and friends, ready to offer assistance or advice. What better way to arrive in a new city, than by being welcomed with open arms by other UW alumni and friends? On September 19 the Salt Lake City Ambassador Group once again came together during their 2nd Annual Family Picnic. The first picnic, held in July 2005, was a wild success, and, as a result, the group determined an annual gathering of local families would become part of their calendar of events. Read more

National security and biological threats are probably not typical breakfast and lunch table conversation for many people. However, both issues were the topic of a presentation by Dr. Robert Miceli at events hosted recently by the University of Wyoming National Ambassadors in Denver. Dr. Miceli works at the Dugway National Training Facility in Utah and represents UW alumni in the Salt Lake area on the UW National Ambassadors board. Read more
UW alums and friends recently gathered at Dave & Buster’s Restaurant and Bar in downtown Chicago to kick-off the 2005/2006 Cowboy Football Season. Much enthusiasm for the upcoming football season was apparent with all the brown and gold being worn, and a good time was had by all with kids joining in the fun making it a great family affair! Students have spent the past four years living comfortably in Laramie, Wyoming, making new friends and earning their degree. Graduation has finally arrived, and now more than 60 percent of these students say adieu to the great state of Wyoming to put their degree in action, leaving family and friends behind. Read more
Nestled amongst thousands of BYU and University of Utah fans, 75 University of Wyoming alumni and friends gathered, proudly wearing their brown and gold in a land of blue and white and red and white. A Wyoming state flag marked the home of Kevin and Becky Potts in the suburbs of Salt Lake City . Guests were greeted with a “howdy” and ushered to the elegant backyard, where grills with burgers and hot dogs awaited. To finish the meal, cake and special Cowboy Joe cookies, handmade by Rosemary Miceli, were a special treat. Read more
In response to alumni requests, the University of Wyoming National Ambassadors recently organized watch parties in Phoenix and Seattle for the nationally televised UW vs. Colorado State game. Over one hundred Pokes fans gathered at Teakwood’s Sports Bar and Grill in Scottsdale, AZ to cheer on their team.

As the buds burst free at the first signs of spring, so we watch the lives transform for the graduating high school seniors in the Denver Metro area. Most are excited for the changes coming in their lives, but there is some component of apprehension as the realization of leaving home draws near. The Denver Ambassador Group, in conjunction with the UW Department of Admissions, is doing its part to ease the students’ transition into college life.

For graduating seniors, May is a month of anticipation and joy, but can also be a month of some uncertainty when it comes to life after college. One campus organization is addressing that uncertainty. The University of Wyoming President’s Senior Class Ambassadors (PSCA) is a group of outstanding students hand picked by the president to represent the senior class. The PSCA was started in 2001 by President Phil Dubois to give the senior class a direct line of communication to the president’s office and also to provide an opportunity for graduating seniors to meet and network with UW alums from across the country.
