Days two and day three (the main conference) are composed of 90 minute workshops, 60 minute paper presentations and panel discussions, and informal roundtable discussions on multiple aspects of teaching writing and critical thinking. John C. Bean, author of the widely and nationally acclaimed book, Engaging Ideas: The Professor's Guide to Writing, Critical Thinking, and Active Learning in the Classroom, will be the keynote speaker and will facilitate dialogue throughout the conference. Registrants will be encouraged to develop personal action plans to take away from the conference. To facilitate putting those plans into action, registrants will each receive a copy of Professor Bean's book. Register early!
CONFERENCE SITE The meeting site is at the Snow King Resort in Jackson, Wyoming. Jackson Hole is in the shadows of the beautiful Teton National Park, and is the southern gateway to Yellowstone National Park. April is known as the "shoulder season" - between ski season and summer tourism - so while the slopes are closed, the opportunities for sightseeing, wildlife viewing, and visiting the nearby national parks and forests without big crowds are exceptional. People may want to add some vacation time to the end of the week for personal enjoyment. Be sure to pack plenty of warm clothing if you plan to take part in outdoor recreation. Snow is a distinct possibility at this time of the year, and roads will likely still be closed through much of the high mountain country. Visit the links provided below to access more information including the latest travel and weather information in the area.
Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce ACCOMMODATIONS Travel in and out of Jackson is made convenient by regular flights to the Jackson airport, most routed through Salt Lake City or Denver International Airports. Conference registrants are urged to register early and to make travel and lodging arrangements (conference registration is limited to 250). Please visit the Accommodations & Attractions page for more information.
