Extracurricular activities add fun and new
challenges to your college experience. Many activities can enhance your
professional future because of the leadership opportunities you’ll have.
The College of Agriculture has many clubs and organizations from which
to choose, as well as competitive teams and both an agriculture-related
fraternity and sorority. Ag Ambassadors: Members promote the College of Agriculture and special emphasis is placed on recruiting prospective students. Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow: Members have an opportunity to interact with one another while learning more about promoting agriculture. Contact: Office of Communications and Technology (766-6345). Ag Council: Selected club representatives meet and organize college-wide activities. Contact: Office of Academic and Student Programs (766-4135). Agroecology Club: Interested students have the opportunity to learn more about natural resources and agricultural ecosystems. Ag Econ Club: Members are given educational opportunities and exposure to professional careers within the agricultural industry through off-campus field trips. Alpha Zeta Honorary: Students demonstrating academic excellence, character, and leadership are eligible to join this organization. Contact: Office of Academic and Student Programs (766-4135). American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences: Students engaged in any of the family and consumer sciences options may interact with other students who have similar interests. Contact: Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (766-4145). Block-n-Bridle Club: Members promote leadership and public relations within the College of Agriculture and, specifically, the Department of Animal Science. Contact: Department of Animal Science (766-2224). Collegiate FFA: Students have an opportunity to develop skills used by agricultural educators. Contact: Carl Reynolds (766-6806). Collegiate 4-H Club: Members work on campus and in the community to help other young people and provide leadership opportunities for the 4-H program. Contact: State 4-H Office (766-5170). Fitting and Showing Club: Members educate 4-H and FFA members about proper handling practices, promote livestock and the showing industry, and develop leadership skills. Food Science Club: Members learn about the food and meat industries by participating in food plant tours and regional and national food science and meat events. They also take part in smoked turkey sales, catering events, and roaster pig catering. Contact: Department of Animal Science (766-2224). Gamma Sigma Delta: is an organization having as its objectives the advancement of agriculture in all its phases, the maintenance and improvement of the relations of agriculture and related sciences to other industries, and the recognition of the responsibilities of those engaged in all aspects of agriculture to humankind. Our Society seeks to encourage high standards of scholarship and worthy achievements in all branches of the agricultural and related sciences as well as a high degree of excellence in the practice of agricultural pursuits. Microbiology Club: Students interested in biology and biotechnology research have an opportunity to interact with other students who have similar interests. Phi Upsilon Omicron Honorary: This honorary organization gives service to family and consumer sciences professions and offers students leadership opportunities. Contact: Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (766-4145). Pre-Vet Club: Students involved in studying veterinary medicine gain insight and hints concerning veterinary careers. Range Club: Members gain an understanding of the range management profession and participate in the student section of the Society of Range Management. Contact: Department of Renewable Resources (766-2263). Rodeo Club and Team: Students interested in collegiate rodeo receive information and opportunities for intercollegiate rodeo competition. Sigma Alpha: Sigma Alpha is a professional sorority organized to foster the study of agriculture among women by promoting scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship. Thus, it is the object of this sorority to promote women in all facets of agriculture and to strengthen the bonds of friendship among them. It is the purpose of its members to strive for achievement in scholarship, leadership, and service. Student Dietetic Association: Students interested in nutrition and healthy lifestyles have a chance to interact academically and socially with students who have similar interests.
