In the Office of Academic and Student Programs, our main focus is on students, and we believe much of their success depends upon and is a direct reflection of our efforts. Our relationship with College of Agriculture students starts during the recruitment process, which is why we are happy to represent the College of Agriculture on the Wyoming High School Principals Advisory Council. We have both drop-in and prearranged visits with prospective students and their parents, and we conduct freshman and transfer orientation sessions for five weeks each summer.
Other activities directly related to students include:

  • Conducting academic advising for all agricultural communications majors

  • Making decisions on student petitions for course overloads and grade changes and helping students with late admission, adding, dropping, and withdrawing from classes

  • Conducting student exit interviews

  • Receiving and replying to student responses about courses and instructors

  • Advising the Ag Council

  • Supervising the Ag Ambassadors

  • Making decisions on student petitions for reinstatement to UW following academic suspension

The Office of Academic and Student Programs represents the College of Agriculture on the following committees and in the following organizations:

  • UW Freshman Interest Group (FIG) Committee

  • UW Council of Academic Deans

  • UW Enrollment Management/Process Committee

  • The National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC), Academic Programs Section

Other activities in which we participate include:

  • Taking part in hiring college instructors

  • Preparing and managing all college teaching budgets

  • Overseeing college outcomes assessment mandated by UW and the North Central Accrediting Association

  • Reviewing all annual updates by all teaching personnel

  • Reviewing all Tenure and Promotion packets with special attention to appropriate recognition for outstanding teaching

  • Reviewing, interpreting, and responding as appropriate to all course/instructor evaluations

  • Overseeing the College Course and Curriculum Committee

  • Overseeing the College of Agriculture Scholarship Program

  • Overseeing College of Agriculture commencement

  • Providing administration to the Office for Academic Success

  • Coordinating articulation with Wyoming community colleges

  • Overseeing the College of Agriculture Student Computer Lab
