At UW we want to make transferring your credits as easy as possible. If you're transferring to UW from one of Wyoming's Community Colleges, common course numbering for similar freshman and sophomore courses makes it easy to see exactly how your courses will apply toward a UW degree program. Evaluation of your transfer credit may take some time. To avoid any delays, please have your transcripts sent to UW Admission as early in the application process as possible.
Contact the Admissions Office to find out about special early registration programs. If you're transferring from an out-of-state school, or if you're a Wyoming community college student who didn't attend our early registration program, you may attend a special transfer-advising program in June.
Application Process
Generally, all college-level courses from regionally accredited colleges and universities will transfer to UW: Remedial courses and most vocational courses will not. Your college grade point average in transferable courses will determine your admission status and will be used for scholarship decisions, but your GPA after you transfer here will be based solely on your UW courses.
The UW Admissions Office will send you a letter of admission, while the Office of Registration and Records will evaluate your college transfer courses for general acceptance to UW. Your UW major department will determine acceptance of transfer courses toward a specific degree. We'll record all letter grades for transferable courses, but your major department will decide whether courses with D grades will count toward completing specific degree requirements.
Veterans may receive credit for college-level courses taken while in the military. To find out if your military credits are transferable, have a copy of your 00214, ACE transcript, or a certificate of completion sent to the UW Admissions Office. A maximum of 24 semester hours of correspondence credit may be used to fulfill requirements for a UW bachelor's degree.
