Admission Requirements

This application is only for international students applying for undergraduate study at the University of Wyoming. All non-U.S. citizens who are not permanent residents of the U.S. are considered to be international students. U.S. citizens or permanent residents should complete the appropriate domestic application. Students wishing to pursue graduate study at the University of Wyoming should contact the UW Graduate School at Dept. 3108, 1000 E. TERMS:

  • Freshman – students who have not enrolled in a college or university since graduation from secondary school.
  • Transfer students – students who have enrolled in another college or university since graduation from secondary school.

WHEN TO APPLY:

  • Applications must be completed by the following deadlines: June 1 for Fall Semester (begins late August) November 1 for Spring Semester (begins mid-January) April 1 for Summer Semester (semesters begin throughout May, June and July) Applications received after these dates may be considered for the following term.
  • Applications can initially be submitted up to one year before the desired semester of entry begins. We strongly recommend applying at least 6 months before the start of the semester to allow sufficient time for processing the application, obtaining a student visa and arranging travel.
  • If you will be applying for a departmental scholarship for next fall semester, your application must be complete before the deadline of that scholarship.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A non-refundable application fee of U.S. $40.00 is required before the application can be processed. This fee cannot be waived or deferred. If this fee is submitted in the form of an international money order or a check, it must be drawn on a U.S. bank, made payable to the UW Admissions Office. Please print your full legal name on your check or money order.
  • Required academic records (mark sheets, transcripts, exam results, certificates, etc.) must be original or certified true copies. All records should be submitted in the native language and credentials written in languages other than English must be accompanied by an official English translation.
  • TOEFL results must be sent directly from ETS to the University of Wyoming. UW cannot accept student copies. Minimum score required for admission to UW is 525. (197 computer-based exam [CBE])
  • A bank statement or other official forms of documentation of financial support must accompany the Confidential Financial Statement and Affidavit of Support.
  • If your application for admission is otherwise complete, it can be evaluated before we have received the Confidential Financial Statement. We can determine academic eligibility but cannot send immigration forms until this documentation has been received.
