Returning Students

Welcome Back.

We're happy your journey has brought you back to UW.

The process of re-enrolling at UW will depend on how long you have been gone from UW, if you've taken college coursework since you left, and your status as a student when you left UW.

  • If less than one academic year has passed since you last took UW coursework and you have not taken courses elsewhere, you may simply call the UW Registrar's Office at (307) 766-5272 and let them know when you will be re-enrolling.
  • If more than one academic year has passed since you last took UW coursework and have not taken courses elsewhere, you must complete a returning student application for admission only. You will not be required to pay the application fee again.
  • If you have taken, or are currently taking coursework from another college or university you must reapply to UW as a returning student and have one official transcript from EACH previously attended institution sent directly to the Admissions Office. Your admission to the University of Wyoming will be based in part on your transfer GPA. You will not be required to pay the application fee again.
  • If you left UW on academic suspension, in addition to completing the required admission actions above, you must also submit a Petition for Reinstatement to the academic department for which you belonged at the time of your departure from UW. The Petition for Academic Reinstatement can be downloaded at this link. To re-enroll, you will need to be admitted to UW AND reinstated by your academic department.

If you have any questions about the steps necessary to re-enroll at UW, contact the UW Admissions Office at (800) 342-5996 or (307) 766-5160.
