2010 Resident Freshman Scholarships

Wyoming Scholars Awards

The Wyoming Scholars Award provides scholarship support in the amount of $1,000 per academic year to eligible students.

Students must have a 3.50 cumulative high school grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) AND a composite ACT of 25 or composite SAT (math and verbal) of 1130.

The Wyoming Scholars is awarded in addition to a student's eligible Hathaway merit scholarship. Any eligible Hathaway need-based scholarship dollars recieved by the student will serve to fulfill the $1,000 award however.

The Wyoming Scholars Award is also available to resident home-schooled students with a minimum ACT composite score of 27 or SAT composite score of 1210.

This scholarship is only available to first-time, entering freshmen seeking their first bachelor's degree, but is renewable for up to 8 semesters (4 years). Students must maintain full-time enrollment (12 semester hours) during the Fall and Spring semesters each year and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA (evaluated at the end of each Spring semester). This scholarship is not available for use during the Summer semester.

To be considered for the Wyoming Scholars Award, students must:

  • Apply for admission and submit the $40 admission application fee by May 1 (Fall enrollment), or by December 1 (Spring enrollment)
  • Submit official high school transcripts by May 1 (Fall enrollment), or by December 1 (Spring enrollment)
  • Submit official ACT/SAT test scores by May 1 (Fall enrollment), or by December 1 (Spring enrollment)
  • Be admitted to UW
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Students selected to recieve the Wyoming Scholars Award must confirm their enrollment at UW by May 1st. Students will recieve instructions on how to confirm their enrollment after being admitted.

Students are provisionally awarded scholarships by the UW Admissions Office shortly after being admitted. Final awards are made upon receipt of all final academic records.

Scholarships are subject to available funding.

Trustees' Scholars Award

The Trustees' Scholars Award provides the equivalent cost of tuition and mandatory fees (up to 18 credit hours per regular semester), double-occupancy room, and the unlimited-access dining plan to eligible resident students.

On or about February 1, 2010, Seventy-five new resident freshmen students who have completed an application file with UW (see application requirements below) will be selected to recieve the Trustees' Scholar Award beginning the Fall 2010 semester. Awards will be made based on an evaluation of the eligible student's cumulative GPA, ACT and/or SAT scores submitted, and the academic rigor of the student's high school coursework.

Due to the competitive nature of this award, it is only awarded to new freshmen beginning at UW in the Fall semester and cannot be deferred.

Scholarship commitments will be fulfilled by any funds awarded through the Hathaway Scholarship program (merit and need). No student shall be awarded scholarships that exceed the student's total cost of attendance. Wyoming Scholars Award offers will be void for those students selected to recieve the Trustees' Scholar. Because of the value of this scholarship, other UW scholarships awarded to the student may be void. Consult the Student Financial Aid Office at (307) 766-2116 should you be lucky enough to have this problem!

Students selected to recieve the Trustees' Scholars Award must confirm their enrollment at UW by May 1st. Students will recieve instructions on how to confirm their enrollment after being admitted.

To be considered for the Trustees' Scholars Award, students must:

  • Apply for admission and submit the $40 admission application fee by December 1, 2009
  • Submit official high school transcripts by December 1, 2009
  • Submit official ACT/SAT test scores by December 1, 2009
