The annual Fall Assessment Forum, featuring Linda Suskie, will take place on September 19th and 20th, 2005. Ms. Suskie is author of Assessing Student Learning: A Common Sense Guide (2004) and is currently an executive associate director at Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
“Linda’s book provides practical advice about assessment. It is a real how-to guide for faculty,” said Jane Nelson, director of the ECTL. “The ECTL hosted a few assessment workshops last year using her book. It will be a real pleasure having her on campus for two days.”
The Fall Assessment Forum will feature a variety of sessions, including several workshops on specific assessment topics including developing statements of student learning outcomes, rubrics, using published instruments, assessment of capstone experiences, and using assessment results. Linda will also give a talk over lunch on September 19th about promoting a climate of assessment.
In addition, individual meeting times are also available for assessment grant recipients and department chairs/heads to discuss current assessment issues specific to them. Space is limited so if you are interested in meeting with Linda, please contact Erika Prager at ekprager@uwyo.edu or 766-2897.
“The Fall Assessment Forum is a great opportunity to kick-off the year. We really tried to plan an event to meet a variety of faculty assessment needs,” said Erika Prager, university assessment specialist. “The forum has a little bit of everything where you can come to the entire event or pick and choose sessions of interest.”
For more information about the forum or to register online, please click here. The deadline to register is September 14.
