The University of Wyoming
is participating in a four-year longitudinal study sponsored by the Lumina
Foundation and the Council for Aid to Education using the Collegiate
Learning Assessment (CLA) to assess student learning.
In 2005-06 (1st study
year), we recruited 276 freshmen to participate. These students were
administered the three hour assessment in two parts (performance tasks and
writing prompts) during fall semester. In addition, 125 seniors were
recruited to take one of the two parts of the CLA during spring semester
before graduation.
The next step in our
longitudinal study is to retest at minimum of 200 students from our freshmen
cohort. This second round of assessment testing will take place in spring 2007.
