Professor Maggi Murdock,
Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Outreach School
 

Maggi Murdock joined the University of Wyoming faculty in 1975 in the Department of Political Science. After two years on the UW-Laramie campus, Maggi moved to the University’s Casper program, where she served on the UW faculty, teaching both Political Science and Criminal Justice courses, from 1977 to 2000. She was a visiting faculty member at Gustavus Adolphus College (Minnesota) in 1997. In 1990 Maggi was appointed as dean of the University of Wyoming Casper College Center (UWCC) and served in that position until 2000. In 2001 she began serving as associate vice president for Academic Affairs and dean of the Outreach School.

 

Maggi received her Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in Political Science from Tufts University and her B.A. degree in Political Science from Creighton University. Her research interests have included childhood political socialization, judicial retention, Native American politics, and distance education. She teaches an upper-division course in Political Violence and has taught on the Laramie campus, the UWCC campus, and through a variety of distance technologies.

Maggi is the recipient of the John P. Ellbogen Meritorious Classroom Teaching Award and the George Duke Humphrey Distinguished Faculty Award. She and her husband, Nick, live in both Laramie and Casper, and have two grown children and three grandchildren.
