Distinguished Emeritus Professorship

Purpose

To honor an eminent faculty member's career of exceptional contributions in research, teaching and/or service.

 Eligibility

Faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences, about to retire or recently retired, who wish to continue their research, teaching or service activity for at least one more year, are eligible. In addition, the faculty member's department must be willing to support the faculty member for at least one year with an office, phone, computer and continued use of research equipment as appropriate.

 Selection

Nominations by the faculty member's department may be sent to the Dean of the College at anytime until March 30th for consideration for the following academic year. The Dean will forward eligible nominations to the Central Committee for approval.

 Award

Selected faculty will be given the title, "A&S Distinguished Emeritus Professor," and a plaque. The recognition will be accompanied by a $1,000 honorarium, and the department will receive $1,000.
