The College of Arts and Sciences (A&S), UW’s
largest and most diverse college, is home to seven divisions: biological
sciences, fine arts, humanities, interdisciplinary programs, mathematical
sciences, physical sciences, and social sciences. All
undergraduates
at UW take most of their courses in A&S; more than 3,250 students
are A&S majors; and A&S research grants exceed $12 million
annually.
A&S offers strong programs throughout its curriculum
and excels in areas that benefit from our special environment. Areas
of distinction include the performing and creative arts, anthropology,
geology, chemistry, and the life sciences. We enlist the support of
our alumni and friends to strengthen our vibrant programs and to expand
student opportunities throughout the College.
