GPA and Credit Hours
-- selected maximums and minimums
The following is a summary of common maximum and minimum requirements
for most Bachelor’s degrees in A&S—it is only a quick guide. Refer
to the UW Bulletin for more complete information and any exceptions.
- At least 30 credit hours with a grade of C, or better, must be earned in the major subject.
- A 2.0 cumulative grade point average is required for graduation from the University.
- Courses in the major, University Studies Program, and the A&S Core must be taken for a letter grade unless offered for S/U only.
- At least 48 credit hours must be at the 3000 or 4000 levels. All courses must be taken for a letter grade unless offered for S/U only. Thirty of these hours must be earned from UW. These upper division credits may be in your major, minor, University Studies, A&S Core and electives.
- Up to 20 credit hours of courses with a grade of S may be included as part of the total credit hours for graduation (with restrictions as explained in #1, #3 and #4 above).
- Not more than 24 credit hours correspondence
credit may be used in fulfilling requirements for a bachelor’s
degree.
- At least 12 credit hours of your minor cannot be in courses that you count toward your major.
- In most programs, no more than 60 hours in one subject may be used to satisfy the total credit hours required for graduation. If you take more than
60 hours in one subject, you must take equivalent credit hours of electives outside that subject.
- The last credit applicable to degree requirements must be earned from the University of Wyoming. However,
students of senior standing may complete degree requirements elsewhere by
obtaining special permission of the advisor, department head, and the College
dean’s office. Forms are available in department offices or the College dean’s
office.
