When university regulations were created in the 1990s, the regulations specified that APs could not vote on T&P for tenure track faculty.  This was clearly the intent of those who wrote the regulations.  But low and behold, these rules have changed (don’t ask me how or when) and if you wish your APs to vote, the candidate only has to indicate so in writing—similar to the permission now given for untenured faculty to vote.  Graham Mitchell has drafted a proposal for his department and it has been approved by Old Main.  So, we have T&P meetings coming up in January, your department should then make a decision whether you wish to adopt Graham’s proposal.
