This morning at the deans’ meeting, Myron commented that he had received a considerable number of comments advocating a higher profile for graduate education.  He said he welcomed these comments.  He also indicated that he appreciated specific suggestions as to wording.

As to discussions at our heads’ meeting concerning planning, thought the ideas about shared courses were particularly good ones—combines efficiency and interdisciplinarity.  I realize that such sharing at the graduate level is more difficult but, given the small number of students in many of our graduate courses, where appropriate graduate courses that could be used in two or more departments would be very attractive.
