Wool Processing, Scouring & Carding

UW is the only land grant college in the United States that has a commercial scale wool scouring train.  The scouring train is operated irregularly throughout the year depending on research and teaching demands.

Currently, mid-April and mid-September are peak times of use.  At these times, when the train is up and running, we can scour and card a limited amount of wool for individuals.  Also, if you have a group who would like a demonstrations, please contact us.

Requirements for Processing Wool:

1. Fleeces will be scoured as received.

2. Will skirt fleeces for $5.00/ each.

3. Will scour on a first-come, first-serve basis.
