POSITION:              Full Time, Clinical Teaching (non-tenure)
                                  Track with an emphasis in Human Anatomy

RANK:                     Clinical Assistant Professor

SALARY:                Commensurate with experience


The University of Wyoming is seeking a talented educator to teach Human Anatomy in the WWAMI Medical Education Program and the Division of Kinesiology and Health.  This unique, newly-created position is a 9-month, non-tenure track position in the College of Health Sciences at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor.  As a WWAMI faculty member, the successful candidate also is eligible for affiliate faculty status in the University of Washington’s School of Medicine.

RESPONSIBILITIES


With a passion for both teaching and scholarly pursuits, this person’s principal teaching responsibilities will be in the areas of gross anatomy (head & neck, trunk, and limbs), and embryology to a very small class (16) of first-year WWAMI Medical Program students and will help prepare upper division kinesiology and health students to serve as student mentors for the anatomy course offered in Kinesiology and Health.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:  Qualified candidates should possess an earned doctorate in anatomy or a related field; have a record of successful college teaching in the area of human anatomy; and have evidence of successful college teaching experience in cadaver-based anatomy with medical and/or graduate/professional students.  Applicants with an earned master’s degree and an exceptionally strong teaching history may be considered.

WWAMI Description
The WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho) Medical Education Program is the University of Washington School of Medicine’s regional first year medical program on the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie.  The UW School of Medicine (UWSOM) has a strong commitment to excellence in biomedical research and primary care medicine, and continues to be the number one ranked medical school in the nation for primary care medical education.   Medical students in their first year of medical school in Laramie learn in small lecture and lab formats, with hands-on faculty instruction, particularly in the human anatomy lab.  There are 16 medical students at the University of Wyoming site, and a combined teaching faculty of 20+ dedicated and collaborative professors from 3 different colleges.  For more information visit:  www.uwyo.edu/wwami.
