2010 Invitational Summer InstituteStart: Tuesday, July 06, 2010 Event Details:
WIGs, RIGs and LEOs
The Invitational Summer Institute will focus on the Wyoming Writing Project's three primary areas of professional development.
Teacher as Writer Teacher as Researcher Teacher as Leader
As a Writing Fellow, you will participate in a Writing Interest Group (WIG) to workshop and enhance your personal writing interests, be that fiction, verse, or expository prose. You will also work with a Research Interest Group (RIG) to develop and present a ninety-minute "exploration" of a self-directed research project based on some aspect of your current (and/or future) teaching. And all of us, collectively, will examine methods for ramping up Leadership Enhancement Opportunities (LEOs) at the building, district, regional, and statewide levels.
Through every phase of the ISI you will be assisted and supported by a number of Facilitators, Co-Directors, and former Writing Fellows. Building a powerful community of writing teachers – writers who teach and teachers who write – is the essential backbone of the Invitational Summer Institute. Finally, but perhaps most importantly, the Summer Institute will include a substantial amount of fun. Sooner or later, every "powerful community" develops its own sense of "humor." RSVP |
