West Nile Virus in the Western U.S.

 

   In collaboration with the USDA’s Arthropod-borne Animal Diseases Research Laboratory (ABADRL) which is based in Laramie, we recently completed studies on the efficiency with which biting midges transmit vesicular stomatitis, a disease that affects cattle and horses. ABADRL in one of the few research centers that maintains colonies of biting midges such as C. variipennis for transmission studies.
