Several faculty members in the department of veterinary sciences have a particular interest in neurological diseases of animals.  Diseases of the brain and spinal cord are not uncommon, and sometimes require special investigative approaches to characterize them.  The presence of rabies and chronic wasting disease in the state results in a steady flow of brains from animals, presenting opportunities to identify novel diseases.
