Teaching and Research oriented towards soil biology and biochemistry; science, history and culture of wild land soils; ecosystem management by indigenous cultures; plant nutrition as mediated by symbiotic microorganisms especially in disturbed areas including mined lands; and microbial amelioration of contaminants including hydrocarbons and toxic metals, and impacts of climate change at high elevations. Considerable effort is devoted to the goals, implementation and projects associated with the Wyoming Reclamation and Restoration Center.
