Areas of specialization in teaching, research, and/or extension include Rangeland/Wildlife Habitat Ecology and Management, Restoration Ecology, Wetland Ecology and Management, Animal Damage Management, and Natural Resources Communications. Research focuses on manipulating rangeland vegetation to enhance wildlife habitat while maintaining sustainable agricultural production, evaluating approaches to improve wildlife habitat on drastically disturbed lands, and assessing the impact of range improvement practices on vegetation and wildlife populations. Teaches Rangeland Vegetation Management Techniques  (REWM 4850) and Rangeland Restoration Ecology (REWM 5580) every spring semester,  Wildlife Habitat Ecology (REWM 5830) in fall semesters of odd-numbered years, and Wildlife Habitate Evaluation Techniques (REWM 4650/5650) in fall semesters of even-numbered years. Extension programming includes backyard wildlife habitat management, animal damage management, and educational programs developed from applied research topics. Certified Wildlife Biologist from The Wildlife Society.  Professional honors include Outstanding Achievement Award from Society for Range Management, Lawrence Meeboer Teaching Award, and Outstanding Educator Award.
