I teach Principles of Water Quality, Watershed Water Quality Management, and Water Resources Issues Seminar.
I have developed interdisciplinary research program which features both basic and applied aspects of surface water and groundwater quality problems from natural processes as well as land use activities such as Ag production, solid waste production and disposal from variety of processes, flue gas emissions from coal power plants, mining and extraction of coal and uranium, natural gas production such as coalbed methane, and livestock production.
Advised postdoctoral students, graduate and undergraduate students, laboratory technicians, and high school students and teachers.
Published extensively in national and international journals and also given several invited presentations at regional, national, and international conferences and workshops.
My present research investigations include:Some of my professional honors include: Outstanding Educator-Of-The-Year Award, Bharat Gaurav and Certificate of Excellence Award, Lawrence Meeboer Teaching Award, Outstanding “Advisor-Of-The-Year” Award, Excellence in Advising Award, and Outstanding Master’s Thesis Advising Award for 2007, 2006, 2004, and 2003.
- Mineral Carbonation of Alkaline Solid Wastes: Sequestration and Mineralization of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) from Coal Combustion Flue Gases.
- Arsenic Geochemistry, Groundwater Quality, and Removal Technology.
- CBNG (CBM) Produced Water Biogeochemistry, Water Quality, and Beneficial Uses.
- Evaluation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) to Protect Groundwater Quality from Non-point Source Pollution.
- Coordinated Agricultural Water Quality Program for the Northern Plains and Mountains Region.
