My research, teaching, and service activities are focused on assessing and restoring wildlife habitats.  My past research experience has centered on linking habitat conditions with wildlife population dynamics in forest and rangeland systems in the Intermountain West.  A particular emphasis of my research has been concerned with restoration efforts relative to species inhabiting sagebrush steppe systems.  I am in the process of developing a research program that seeks to bridge basic and applied aspects of restoration ecology to better understand how to restore the functionality of and mitigate impacts to wildlife habitats following large-scale anthropogenic and natural disturbances. Courses I teach include wildlife habitat ecology (REWM 5830), wildlife habitat restoration ecology (REWM 4750/5750), rangeland restoration ecology (REWM 4580/5580), rangeland ecosystem assessment and monitoring (REWM 4330), and rangeland vegetation management techniques (REWM 4850).  Note: all of these courses are not offered each year.
