Graduate School Admissions Checklist for Non-Degree Applicants

Please note that not all graduate-level coursework is available for enrollment by non-degree students.  Please check with the department for details.

Step 1.
 

  • Graduate School On-Line Application
    -Twelve credit hours of non-degree credit can be used toward a degree program at a later date, upon approval of the student's graduate committee members.
    -Current UW bachelor's students will automatically be given graduate, non-degree status the semester immediately following graduation.
  • Pay Application Fee Online - Please make sure you've submitted the application online before you pay the application fee.
    -If you are a teacher, please e-mail uwgrad@uwyo.edu with the following message:
    "I am currently a teacher and have completed the online non-degree application.  Please waive my application fee payment.  Signed: ______________"

Step 2.  A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited school is required.  Please send an official transcript, indicating proof of bachelor's, to:

We do not require official transcripts from UW.

International Students Must Also Submit:
Step 3.  Confidential Financial Statement<PDF>            

Step 4.  Official TOEFL Scores - sent to the Graduate School (school code is 4855)
    A minimum score of 540 on the written exam, 207 on the computerized exam, or 76 on the Internet-based test is required for full admission.  We will also accept official IELTS scores.  A minimum score of 6.0 is required for full admission.
   
The TOEFL is usually not required if you've obtained a degree from a U.S. institution or an institution with English instruction within one year of becoming a graduate student at UW.

NOTE: If your TOEFL score does not reflect the minimum requirements, you have not taken the test, or you simply need supplemental English study before attending the University of Wyoming, you have the opportunity to attend our ELS Language Center to improve your English language skills and waive the TOEFL requirement.  Visit www.uwyo.edu/els for details.

Step 5.  International Student Advisor's Report<PDF> sent to the Graduate School
            -This is only for international students currently studying in the U.S.A.

After you apply:
Your application will be processed by the Graduate School staff the following morning.  You will receive e-mail notification of this.

Exams Available On Campus
