International Students

 The University of Wyoming is dedicated to increasing international student graduate enrollment. UW and Laramie are welcoming, safe places committed to diversity. We have 237 international graduate students from 45 countries.

  Upon arriving at the University of Wyoming, international students are required to contact the International Student Services Office. The ISS:

  • provides support and counsel for UW's international students and scholars population regarding aspects of immigration regulations and procedures
  • orients this population to the policies and expectations of the university, the educational system, and the U.S. culture
  • coordinates and facilitates international and domestic student exchanges

Application Checklist

  • Graduate School On-Line Application and Fee
  • Official Transcripts from all Post-Secondary Institutions to Graduate School
  • Official GRE Scores to Graduate School (School Code is 4855); GMAT required for some programs, scores to be sent to department of interest.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation to department of interest.
  • Graduate Assistantship Application to Department of interest.
  • Confidential Financial Statement (International Students Only)
  • Official TOEFL Scores (International Students Only)
  • International Student Advisor's Report
  • Check with the department to be sure you have submitted any additional materials they may need.

International Student Association

  UW has cooperative agreements with universities in Australia, Denmark, France, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, People’s Republic of China, Republic of China, Russian Federation, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

 English Proficiency Assessment Program

  Graduates whose first language is other than English and who will have teaching responsibilities will be required to demonstrate English competency through an English Proficiency Assessment Program.
Please contact the Graduate School for specific information including exact dates and times.

Teaching Orientation

  All graduate students, who as a part or all of their assistantship will have any type of teaching responsibilities, are required to attend the Teaching Orientation. The orientation is offered once a year in August. The Teaching Orientation has been designed in cooperation with the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning. Sessions are available free of charge.
  Many departments also provide discipline training. Check with your academic unit about location and times of unit specific training.
