The Graduate
School proudly sponsors the following events that contribute to a high quality

- Teaching Orientation – provides meaningful
teaching training to graduate students; introduces students to best
practices in teaching.
- Graduate School Orientation – outlines the
structure and function of the Graduate School, processes involved from
admission through completion and outlines principles and practices contributing
to a successful graduate experience.
- Distinguished Speakers Series – Seminars by
renowned speakers from the academic, political, social and entertainment
arenas.
- Graduate Student Symposium – provides an opportunity
to practice presentation skills in a professional environment, expand
knowledge, build resumes and interact with graduate students and faculty
from across campus. Held every spring.
- GRE workshop – provides information on the
GRE and guidelines to maximize performance.
- Graduate School Reception – offers an informal
venue for all graduate students and faculty to socialize. Offered at
the beginning of each semester.
- Predoctoral Fellowship workshop – review of
opportunities available for pre-doctoral fellowships and information
on developing a competitive application.
- Miscellaneous – periodically workshops and
events such as Ethics in Scholarship and Mentoring Principles are presented
to enhance the graduate experience.
