water-wise landscapingWater-wise plant ‘Talk & Tour’ Saturday, June 28

“Water-Wise Plants: A Talk & Tour” is 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 28, in Laramie.

The program is focused on water-wise, yet beautiful, plants that can be used in Laramie-area landscapes, said one of the organizers, Jennifer Jones, coordinator of the statewide Small Acreage Issue Team and active member of the Laramie Garden Club.

The Small Acreage Issue Team, Laramie Garden Club, University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service, Laramie Rivers Conservation District and Albany County Library, in collaboration with the library’s summer reading program, “Catch the Reading Bug,” are sponsors of the event.

It begins at the Albany County Public Library.

“We’ll start the morning with a slide presentation where local gardeners will discuss a variety of beautiful plants that need relatively low amounts of water to flourish,” Jones said. “We’ll tour the library landscaping to see some of these plants up close.”

Participants then travel to LaBonte Park. “The group will see the fabulous new Laramie water-wise demonstration garden at LaBonte,” Jones said.

The event is free of charge. For more information, contact Jones at (307) 745-3698 or jsjones@uwyo.edu.
