Washakie County 4-H educator receives extension honor

A University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) 4-H educator based in Worland has received the Newer Employee Recognition Award.

Amber Wallingford received the honor during the UW CES Extension Professional Improvement Conference in Laramie Nov. 5-8.

Wallingford, who serves Washakie County, was credited for being a resource mentor and an example to new 4-H educators, according to nomination letters.

Wallingford began with UW CES in 2002. She is a Wyoming Leadership Education and Development (L.E.A.D.) and Leadership Washakie County graduate and has been vice president and president of the Wyoming Association of Extension 4-H Agents.

“She has been described as a quiet leader, meaning she exhibits strong leadership skills, never asking for recognition, but always getting the job done in a quality manner,” a nomination letter stated.

Wallingford is a Hot Springs County High School graduate and obtained an associate’s degree from Northwest Community College and then an agriculture communications degree from UW in 2002.
