Extension educator begins April 1 on Wind River Indian Reservation
A Rock Springs High School graduate who grew up in Pinedale and Rocks Springs begins April 1 as the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) educator on the Wind River Indian Reservation.
Justina Toth will be based out of the UW CES office in Blue Sky Hall in Ethete, said Susan James, UW CES federal relations and staff development coordinator.
Toth received a bachelor’s degree in forest resource management in 2002 and a master’s degree in resource conservation with an international conservation and development option in December 2007, both from the University of Montana in Missoula. She worked two years as an environmental extension agent with the U.S. Peace Corps in The Gambia, West Africa. While in the Peace Corps, she provided technical advice and assistance to forestry workers in the field while conducting community forest inventories, resource assessment surveys and boundary demarcations, which led to the completion of six community forest management plans.
“Tina brings experience through the Peace Corps working with diverse audiences, and she also was a 4-H member as a youth,” said James. “In this position, Tina will serve as a resource to agriculture producers on the Wind River Reservation and provide leadership for the 4-H/youth program.”
