Leader training for 4-H shooting sports set in four Wyoming communities
4-H shooting sports leader training and certification dates have been set for Sundance, Casper, Sheridan and Cheyenne.
Approximately 1,570 youths and 410 adult volunteers participated in the program in 2008, said Warren Crawford, 4-H/youth development specialist in the Wyoming State 4-H Office.
Members and leaders can participate in archery, rifle, muzzleloader, pistol, shotgun and hunting disciplines. Leaders can be certified in one to three disciplines at each training session. Specific times are set when the number of those registering and in how many disciplines are known.
The dates and locations are:
Sundance – Crook County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building, Dec. 20-21
Casper – Agricultural Resource and Learning Center, 2011 Fairgrounds Road, Jan. 10-11
Sheridan – Sheridan County Sportsman Club, 89 Keystone Road, Jan. 31-Feb. 1
Cheyenne – East High School, 2800 E. Pershing Blvd., Feb. 14-15
Crawford said the shooting sports program teaches safety, responsibility, ethics and sportsmanship. “Trained leaders are essential to the program’s success,” he said. “The program is run by dedicated volunteers who enjoy the shooting sports and working with youth participants.”
